Choi Hong Hi (1918–2002) grew from a young man in colonial Korea into a general, diplomat and founder of the ITF. He named Taekwon-Do, developed its techniques with fellow masters, wrote books and taught around the world. War, exile and organisational disputes changed his life. His central work remained the art he passed to his students. These six chapters explore the person behind an international history.
The biography follows his childhood and early training through the federation’s creation, world travels and final years. The history of ITF Taekwon-Do continues the story of the community around the art, including the succession crisis, the emergence of three ITF branches and Ukraine’s own path. The concluding bibliography brings together books, documents and accounts of the founder’s life.
